Gas Line Repair in April Sound – Lake Conroe Home Protected by Bear’s Plumbing

Recently, our team was called out to a home in the April Sound subdivision on the west side of Lake Conroe for a serious gas line issue feeding a pool heater. Gas leaks are never something to ignore — especially when they are buried underground and serving high-demand appliances like pool heaters and two tankless water heaters.

After locating the issue, our licensed technicians carefully saw-cut a small section of the sidewalk and removed the concrete to access the buried gas line. We then excavated the soil and exposed the damaged section of poly gas pipe that was actively leaking.

What Our Team Did

Once the gas line was safely exposed, we:

  • Cut and removed the leaking section of pipe
  • Cleaned and prepared the existing gas line
  • Installed a 1¼-inch poly stab coupling
  • Ran approximately five feet of new poly gas pipe
  • Installed a new 1¼-inch poly Conflex code-approved riser
  • Pressure-tested all new connections
  • Sprayed and tested the entire meter and gas system for leaks

During testing, our team also discovered a separate leak on the city-side regulator, which was documented for the homeowner to follow up with the gas utility.

After confirming all customer-owned piping was leak-free, we backfilled the excavation, patched the concrete, and relit all pilots so the home could return safely to normal operation.

Why This Matters

Homes with tankless water heaters, pool heaters, and outdoor kitchens require properly sized and maintained gas lines. Even a small underground leak can:

  • Reduce appliance performance
  • Increase gas bills
  • Create serious safety hazards

This homeowner now has a safe, properly repaired gas line system that meets Texas plumbing and gas code and is ready to support their home’s high-demand equipment.

If you live in April Sound, Montgomery, or anywhere around Lake Conroe and have gas-powered appliances, it’s wise to have your gas lines inspected — especially if your home is older or has underground piping.
